San Ysidro is a community in the southern section of San Diego which gets around 50 million border crossings yearly. The name came from the Patron Saint of Farmers – Isidro. There is a legend that a mortal, once he fell asleep and that angels would come down and help cultivate his crops as he was sleeping. San Diego annexed San Ysidro in 1957. San Ysidro is located just north U.S.-Mexico boarder and is the southernmost part of San Diego County. It neighbors Otay Mesa West to the north, Otay Mesa to the east, and Nestor and the Tijuana River Valley  to the west. Major thoroughfares include Beyer Boulevard and San Ysidro Boulevard. They have an outlet center called Las Americas with over 125 stores and restaurants, it prides itself on being “largest fashion outlet center in San Diego.” The Kumeyaay Indians were the first known inhabitants of the Tijuana River Valley area where San Ysidro now sits.
